Yes, you can. Under ideal conditions municipal water can be stored for prolonged periods. The water tank has a black food-grade liner inside the tank to stop the sunlight from penetrating the tank. This stops the growth of algae. Also, as the water is used out of the tank it is automatically replaced with water so the water is rotated on a continuous basis.
If stored properly water does not spoil. When contaminants like bacteria gets into a tank, that spoils the water. Properly sealed water in the correct tank won’t spoil.
This is a controversial question and no definitive answer. It is better if the tank is placed on concrete or some other firm surface as gravel or stones under a full tank could actually cause damage to the bottom of the tank. Take a full 5000L tank. The water content weighs 5 tons at the bottom of the base! However, we are able to compact the identified area in a way that the tank will stand upright and not slant over.

Our tanks can handle the maximum Southern African temperatures, however, the water temperature should not exceed 40 degrees.
Municipal water is chlorinated and safe to store for extended periods of time. The tank must however remain properly sealed and the water should run every few weeks to keep it rotated.
